BALLYMUN JOB CENTRE LOCAL EMPLOYMENT SERVICE AND JOBS CLUB ANNOUNCEMENT
As a result of changes made by the Department of Social Protection (DSP), the Local Employment Service as previously managed by the Ballymun Job Centre (BJC), will now be replaced by a new employment service called, the Local Area Employment Service (LAES).
From September 1st, 2022, the Ballymun Job Centre will provide support to individuals of the Ballymun/Whitehall, Balbriggan and Swords areas, as referred to us by the DSP under the new LAES service. In addition, and as of from the 31st of August, the Ballymun Jobs Club will no longer be in operation.
Under the new Local Area Employment Service, the BJC remains committed to its organisational mission, to raise the skills, education levels and labour market aspirations of individuals who access our services.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are the consequences of this change for me, as a client of the service?
For those who are customers of the DSP, we have listed two possible scenarios below.
- The DSP may refer you as one of their customers to an alternative service for support with your job seeking activities.
- The DSP may refer you as their customer back to the Ballymun Job Centre, for support with your job seeking activities.
The BJC is committed to providing a quality and professional service to all our clients and to maximising the employment, education, or training opportunities for all local people. Therefore, it may be possible to ‘self-refer’ to the Ballymun Job Centre.
What if I need support with a CV or Interview Skills?
CV and Interview skills support will be provided under the new LAES service across the Ballymun/Whitehall, Balbriggan and Swords areas.
What are the consequences of this change for client service providers in the local area?
The LAES is just one of several services which are managed and provided by the BJC. The BJC is committed to building and maintaining relationships and working in collaboration with local and national services, for the benefit of all our services users. Referrals from external agencies will therefore continue and are welcome.
