A social inclusion initiative which facilitates the progression and reintegration of participants through a structured work experience placement
about the initiative
We aim to remove barriers, empower individuals, and create opportunities for people who are in recovery and rebuilding their lives. Through career guidance, self exploration training, developmental work to assist movement from early recovery to sustained recovery and work experience placements, our goal is to support the participants to develop new skills, and most importantly to develop self-belief and confidence in their own abilities.
We have established a process of open disclosure and transparency between the participant, the employer and supporting staff.
about the organisations
Ballymun Job Centre is guided by a belief that the best way to address poverty and welfare dependency, and achieve social and economic inclusion is to support individuals to access employment.
Ballymun Youth Action Project believes that people attempting to recover from alcohol and drug use issues, fare better when integrated into pro-recovery networks that provide opportunities for accumulating the necessary skills and social capital to enable effective reintegration into mainstream society (getting a job, stable accommodation which provide the foundations for lasting change) but also about overcoming exclusion and stigma. BYAP provides a range of services for people in recovery in order to maintain and reinforce change.
initiative stages & process
Participants will meet the team from BJC and BYAP. Initial meeting will involve getting to
know each other and creating a plan goingforward.
This initiative offers individuals the opportunity to participate in career guidance, relapse prevention and ongoing personal and social resource development.
We are providing meaningful and supported work placements of 10-20 weeks duration for all participants.
